The Author

Meet Geoffrey Wilson

Geoffrey Wilson is a first-time author making his debut in the world of literature with his novel, Mixed Tape, now available for readers. As a passionate storyteller, Geoffrey has been crafting narratives since he was able to hold a pen and write complete sentences. His journey includes winning his university’s poetry prize in 1992 and being a two-time survivor of the grueling 3 Day Novel Contest. Influences on his work range from classic writers like John Keats, John Dos Passos (Manhattan Transfer), James Joyce (A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man), and H.G. Wells (Tono-Bungay) to contemporary Canadian authors such as Timothy Findlay, Michael Ondaatje, Douglas Coupland, and Guy Gavriel Kay, all of whom have shaped his perspective, especially in the realm of 1980s coming of age narratives: themes that resonate throughout his writing.

Recently, Geoffrey retired from a long and fulfilling career in public affairs and communications, which began in 1986 when he served as a legislative assistant to a Member of Parliament at the House of Commons in Ottawa. He proudly holds degrees in English Literature and Public Administration from Dalhousie University.

Originally born in Ottawa, Ontario, Geoffrey's family relocated to Nova Scotia when he was just two years old. Throughout his life, he has lived in four Canadian provinces but has always found himself returning to the charm of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently, he resides there with his husband Jeff—yes, they share the same first name, but no, it’s not weird—and their adorable cat, Georgie. Geoffrey Wilson’s journey as an author marks an exciting new chapter, especially within the genre of LGBTQ fiction, where he aims to make his mark.
